Let Seiler help you better understand how to make your Mapping system meet your specific goals. While all units come with documentation (print or digital) and some on-line resources, your learning experience can be greatly enhanced by personal attention to your needs.

Training can be performed at a Seiler training facility near you or onsite at your facility.  Please note that onsite customer facility classes may incur additional instructor travel costs depending on location. Contact your Mapping Sales Representative for more information.

Class Equipment Requirements: Customer may bring their own GPS unit for training purposes, however Seiler will have up to three GPS units available for a two student to one GPS unit ratio for class training.

Trimble Mapping & GIS Certified Training Programs

Below is a sample of the many courses we can office.  Please contact us to arrange a custom class at a Seiler facility or on-site at your facility.  Custom classes can be for between 1-6 students.  Classes held at Seiler Training Facilities include daily continental breakfast and full lunch. All classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted or prearranged.

Trimble Certified Training: TerraSync / Pathfinder Office - 2 Day

Topics Covered:

  • Create a data dictionary in the GPS Pathfinder Office software
  • Associate GPS fundamentals with the criteria of a TerraSync software mapping project
  • Identify TerraSync system components
  • Configure your data collector with recommended data collection parameters and record GPS data with recommended methods
  • Perform differential correction with the GPS Pathfinder Office software
  • Navigate and use waypoints
  • Update GIS data
  • Export data to a GIS or CAD system

Mapping with Mobile GIS Certified Training:  ArcPad/GPSCorrect/GPS Analyst - 2.5 Days

Topics Covered:

  • Associate GPS, GIS, and geodatabase fundamentals with the criteria of a mapping project
  • Create a personal geodatabase for use with ArcPad software
  • Prepare and get data for ArcPad software in the ArcMap software
  • Configure the ESRI ArcPad software and the Trimble GPScorrect extension for the ESRI ArcPad software to collect accurate GPS data
  • Collect and update data in ArcPad software using Trimble GPS
  • Process ArcPad data in the ArcMap software

TerraSync Fundamentals for Field Users – 1 Day

Topics Covered:

  • GPS basics
  • GPS accuracy
  • GPS equipment set-up
  • GPS In-Field Mission Planning 
  • Basic Data Collection (Points, Lines, Areas)
  • GPS navigation
  • Working with Background Files
  • Updating GPS data in the field
  • Advanced data collection techniques such as Nesting, Offsets and VRS
  • NOTE:  This class will focus on field data collection.  It will not cover office processing or data transfer and will use a pre-defined data dictionary and background files.  This class is not an official Trimble "certified" class. 

Pathfinder Office Fundamentals – 1 Day

Topics Covered:

  • Coordinate Systems and Datums
  • Importing Data from a GIS/CAD
  • Working with Background Files 
  • Data Dictionary creation 
  • Data Transfer
  • Post-Processing
  • ShapeCorrect (for ArcPad users) 
  • Data Export
  • NOTE:  This class will focus on office processing.  It will not cover field data collection.  It will use files from a previous TerraSync class for processing.  This class is not an official Trimble "certified" class. 

ArcPad Fundamentals for Field Users – 1 Day

  • GPS Fundamentals
  • GPS Accuracy
  • Equipment set-up and Field Data Collection settings
  • Basic GPS Data Collection (Points, Lines, Polygons)
  • Using External Hardware (Lasers, Data Phone, Camera)
  • Advanced GPS Data Collection & Update (Offsets, Nesting, VRS)
  • NOTE:  This class will focus on field data collection.  It will not cover office processing or data transfer and will use pre-defined ArcGIS schema and background files.   This class is not an official Trimble "certified" class. 

Cartopac Certified Field and Office Training –  2 Days

Topics Covered: 

  • Basic use of field applications
  • Start-to-finish deployment 
  • Configuration 
  • Project development and setup 
  • Editing, maintaining and distributing applications 
  • Synchronizing office and field data 
  • Post-processing GPS data
  • Automating reporting 
  • Integrating hardware and software components
  • NOTE:  This training will not cover CartoPac Studio.  It will use forms previously created.  This class is certfied by CartoPac Field Solutions.
